BCRDL Pension Loss Calculator Current Release

The Current Release is Release 6.0

This is the new release that allows calculation of cases where the miner's last mining employment was as a coal mining contractor - this is in addition to still calculating normal British Coal cases and cases where the miner's last mining employment was in a Small Mine. All users should update to this version - Capita will be using this version from 14/04/2009.

Installation Procedures

Regardless of which format of installer you download the following recommendations apply:

If already have installed or used a previous version

Although the installer should update previous versions automatically it is recommended that the following steps are taken:

1. Make a copy of the BCRDLPC.MDB file and/or BCRDL.MDB file (these files hold your data)

2. Use Add/Remove programs to uninstall any previous versions

3. Run the new installer install again to install new copy

It is STRONGLY recommended that you first back up any data files (BCRDLPC.MDB or BCRDL.MDB) - these usually live in C:\Program Files\BCRDL Pension Loss Calculator\ directory regularly and always before an upgrade.

It is also recommended you fully UNINSTALL any previous version (Add/Remove programs from control panel) before loading any new version

Installation files are provided in three formats:

Windows Installer .msi Format

If you just want to install the software and don't want to create your own CD of the software this is the simplest download to use (and smallest). To install first download the .msi file to a directory on your computer (either a temporary one or where you want to store the installer) and double click on the file in explorer to install.

This requires you to have Windows Installer installed on your PC (most modern PC's will have it) - if double clicking does not start a setup dialog then you will need to download the Microsoft Windows Installer from the Microsoft web site and install this before retrying.

Zipped .iso ISO CDROM Image

This format contains a zip file which once uncompressed provides and ISO image of the original CDROM distribution - these images can be turned into actually CD's by most CDROM writing software.

Zipped list of all files from CDROM

If your CDROM writing software cannot write .iso images then this file holds all the files that come on the CDROM as separate files - download the zip file and extract all the files to a temporary directory - then use your CDROM writing software to write all these files to a CD.
